Day one
RIIVEH305F:  OPERATE AND MAINTAIN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE

Location: LOW 4 Off Road proving grounds in Mareeba
Duration: 8am to 3pm (times may vary depending on numbers)

Day 1 Training components:

  • Identify four-wheel drive specific terms, terminology and techniques
  • Plan for minimal environmental impact
  • Perform pre-departure checks
  • Use the features of a four-wheel drive vehicle to drive in a variety of terrain types
  • Use a single snatch strap to recover a vehicle
  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on four-wheel drive vehicles

DAY TWO
FWPCOT3326: RECOVER FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE

Location: LOW 4 Off Road proving grounds in Mareeba
Duration: 8 am to 1 pm (times may vary depending on numbers)

Total cost for 2 days: $600 per person :
Day 2 Training components:

  • Identify loads, ratings and equipment serviceability related to four wheel drive vehicle recovery
  • Plan recovery
  • Perform kinetic rope or strap recovery
  • Perform winch recovery
  • Use other recovery tools and equipment
  • Maintain vehicle recovery equipment
 
4WD Accredited training will also provide you with an opportunity to get a discount on your insurance with Club 4X4

what to bring

  • USI (Unique Student Identifier), including 3 forms of identification (ID)
  • 4WD vehicle – if you don’t have a 4WD, hire vehicle is available upon request for additional cost
  • Comfortable shoes (closed in recommended)
  • Sun-smart clothing (we suggest a wide brimmed hat, long sleeve shirts and long pants)
  • A raincoat (wet season)
  • Sunscreen
  • Water, snacks and lunch – please note Jaques Coffee is located next door or you can take a short drive to Mareeba.
